Public counts
For a homepage or a sheet that should show a count only when a public API actually returned one. Start with Getting started. If you need a sentence about limits, read demo.
GET /v1/counts calls one official unauthenticated API and returns that integer.

Demo
GET endpoints work without an API key on the public demo tier (60 calls per hour per IP). GitHub may also rate limit this server. That comes back as unavailable, not as a made-up count.
