Filing deadline alerts in Make and Zapier

A weekly loop over a list of company numbers. It asks fetch.li for each company’s next deadline and alerts you only when a deadline is overdue or within 30 days. Nothing is emailed to clients: the alert goes to you.

You need a fetch.li API key (Starter or above) and a sheet with one company number per row.

Zapier

  1. Trigger: Schedule by Zapier, every week, Monday 08:00.
  2. Action: Google Sheets, Get many spreadsheet rows. Column A is the company number.
  3. Action: Looping by Zapier, loop over the company numbers.
  4. Action: Webhooks by Zapier, GET.
    • URL: https://fetch.li/v1/company/due
    • Query string: number = the looped company number
    • Headers: Authorization = Bearer YOUR_KEY
  5. Filter: only continue if yes is true.
  6. Action: Slack, Send channel message, or Gmail, Create draft, to yourself. Use say as the text and source_url as the link.

Make

  1. Google Sheets, Search rows on your client sheet.
  2. HTTP, Make a request. Method GET, URL https://fetch.li/v1/company/due?number={{1.A}}, header Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY, parse response on.
  3. Filter between modules: yes equals true.
  4. Slack, Create a message or Email, Create a draft to yourself with {{2.data.say}} and {{2.data.source_url}}.
  5. Schedule the scenario weekly.

Good habits

  • Run it weekly, not every few minutes. Deadlines move by days, and answers are cached for 6 hours anyway.
  • Add a column for the last checked_on date so you can see the loop is running.
  • Treat a 404 as a typo in the sheet, and a 502 as “try again next run”.
  • This is a reminder, not a filing service. The register is the source of truth: open source_url before you act.

Rather not run the scenario yourself? LoopOnyx Filing Watch does this loop for you, from the same data. It is on a waitlist for now.
